Email Best Practices for Maximum Efficiency
Identify the content of the email in the subject line.
Examples:
- FYI (no response is required or expected)
- Action Required by: (date)
- Urgent! – then state subject
- Approval required: – then state subject
When replying please consider:
- Do you need to reply to all, or just the original email author?
- Do you need to reply with history?
When you use the shortcut EOM (end of message) at the end of the subject line, it is considerate practice and identifies to the receiver that there is no additional text to open.
All in all, consider if email is best or if a phone call would be more effective and efficient.
